Las posadas in Mexico (Mexican inns)

Mexico is a catholic country and Christmas time is very festive.

Las posadas begin on 16th of December which last 9 days because  represent the 9 months of gestation of Christ. In addition represent the trip of sacred family from Galilea to Belén.

The people organize - relatives, friends or neighbours - to celebrate one posada between 16th and 24th of December at night. 

Everybody contribute to food, aguinaldos, piñatas, music and pyrotechnic rockets. Sometimes there are pastorelas also.

In one posada the people requests inn (pilgrims) taking with them the figures of pregnant Maria and Jose and sing praises.

A couple of times not given them inn until found charitable people who open the door their home. Then pilgrims are received and start to spend time together. Last posada is on 24th of December at naght  before 25th. That day is called  day of Noche Buena - Christmas' Eve.

This day do dinner of Noche Buena where the families meet to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus - Niño Dios.

Most of mexicans wait for baby Jesus not for Santa Claus.
